Modernization of cooling systems of 200MW units
The Powen-Wafapomp SA Group has carried out numerous modernizations of the cooling systems of 200MW units, which constitute the core of the Polish energy industry.
What has been modernized is the flow system of the 180P pumps, which are the heart of the cooling installation and one of the company's largest products.
A new rotor blade angle adjustment system has been designed.
180P pumps are tested at full parameters at our test station, and full operating characteristics are also determined.
Basic parameters:
• Capacity up to 38 m3/h
• Lifting heights up to 16 m
• Research capabilities up to 5 MW
The assumed goals that were achieved during the modernization are:
• Increased cooling water flow, which translates into increased block efficiency
• Increasing the adjustability of parameters by changing the angle of the rotor blades, which enables more effective operation of the block at extreme parameters
• Improved anti-cavitation properties, which allows for effective operation, especially in the summer season at low water levels
• Increasing the energy efficiency of pumps and the resulting reduction in CO emissions2
• Improved reliability resulting from the use of modern solutions, materials and technologies
