CBRP extension

The production program of the Powen-Wafapomp SA Group includes over 40 types of pumps, including those for: energy and heating, mining, municipal services, chemical and petrochemical industries, metallurgy, sugar industry, food industry, flood and fire protection, and construction. The pumps we produce are designed for pumping media such as: clean and polluted water, chemicals, viscous liquids, water and cooling liquids, fuels, sewage, hot water and sea water, hydromixtures containing solids.

The pump testing stations existing so far in Poland had limitations, mainly in terms of the power available to drive the tested machines and the amount of water collected in the tanks of the testing installation. As a result, pumps with the highest parameters had to be tested at reduced speed. The construction of the Pump Research and Development Center removed these limitations.

Research Capabilities:

OPTIMIZATION
NEW PUMP DESIGN
The new testing station is used to conduct basic research in the field of flow theory in hydraulic machines, and in particular for measurement verification of the results obtained based on numerical design methods. Prototype pump designs are tested in terms of:

  • energy parameters (efficiency, lifting height, energy efficiency),
  • suction properties,
  • movement parameters (resonance frequencies, vibrations, noise, temperature of structural nodes) at actual rotational speeds.

CONTROL
RELIABILITY
In addition to expanding research possibilities in the design of new structures, the testing station is important for quality control of current production because it enables testing of each manufactured pump with its rated parameters, especially in the entire operating range of rotational speeds. This will allow for the elimination of possible manufacturing faults resulting in deviations of the energy and movement parameters from the theoretical design parameters.

As a result, each recipient will receive a fully tested pump, which will reduce the risk of problems occurring at the start-up stage at the workplace and during subsequent operation.

It should be noted that while in the case of testing pumps at reduced rotational speed, there are methods of converting hydraulic parameters (lifting head, efficiency, power consumption) into the rated speed, it is not possible to predict how the vibration levels and temperatures of structural nodes will change when the speed is increased. Therefore, only testing the pump at its actual operating speed provides fully reliable confirmation of its operational efficiency.

TEST
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
In order to obtain favorable energy consumption rates, thorough acceptance tests of the energy efficiency of new pumps are necessary. Moreover, in order to rationally plan renovation management, periodic tests of the efficiency of pumps in operation are recommended. Full compliance with the requirements of the standards regarding measurement accuracy can only be achieved at a specialized testing station, because the conditions at the workplace usually limit this accuracy. The new testing station enables precise testing of the energy parameters of each pump supplied by the Powen-Wafapomp SA Group, as a result of which customers will receive pumps with verified, guaranteed energy efficiency.
EQUIPMENT
CENTRUM

  • The tank is 40 meters long, up to 10 m deep and has a capacity of 1200 m3
  • Electric power supply system with a power of 5 MW in the voltage range from 400 V to 11 kV, including 7 switchboards and 9 transformers
  • 8 frequency converters ensuring the ability to test each pump at any rotational speed in the above-mentioned power and voltage range
  • Measuring collectors with diameters ranging from 100 to 2000 mm
  • Overhead cranes enabling the installation of pump elements weighing up to 50 Mg and lengths of several meters on test stands.

The station's equipment allows testing of pumps with the following parameters:

  • capacity up to 80 m000/h
  • lifting height up to 3500 m
  • power up to 5 MW at any rotation speed

These parameters allow testing the vast majority of pumps used in practice.

TEST
PUMPS FROM OTHER MANUFACTURERS
Subject to the availability of test stations, the POWEN-WAFAPOMP SA Group may accept orders for tests at its test station for pumps from other manufacturers, which enables objective verification of the offered parameters.
